Eva S. Goldfarb, PhD, Professor of Public Health, works in the field of sexuality education. Over the past twenty five years, she has developed and led sexuality education and sexual health programs with youth, parents, educators, and other professionals and has trained current and future school teachers across the country. In addition to Human Sexuality, Dr. Goldfarb teaches a course in Gender and Health and works with MPH students conducting their internships and community projects.

In a field dominated by a harm reduction approach that emphasizes pregnancy and disease prevention, Dr. Goldfarb’s work is notable for its focus on positive, affirming, and comprehensive approaches to human sexuality and sexuality education and for her commitment to affective learning, actively engaged democratic classrooms, social justice, and civic engagement. Her teaching is geared toward helping students understand issues of disparity, equity, and community as they relate to sexuality and gender and other factors.

Dr. Goldfarb is co-author of several sexuality education curricula. She has published widely including her recent co-authorship of National Sexuality Education Standards: Core Content and Skills K-12 (2011) and National Teacher Preparation Standards for Sexuality Education, (Journal of School Health, 2014). She has also presented at conferences worldwide in the area of sexuality education and sexual health. Her work is showcased in the video Sexuality and Our Faith and has been featured on MTV.com, and in Newsweek, The Nation, Self, Family Circle, and The New York Times.

For her work, Dr. Goldfarb has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (2001), the 2011 Golden Brick Award for Educational Excellence and Leadership by the Center for Family Life Education of Greater Northern New Jersey, and the 2014 Professing Excellence Award for Outstanding Education Practices by Leadership Development and Campus Connections at Montclair State University.

Dr. Goldfarb holds a PhD in Human Sexuality Education from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters Degree in Communications from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctor of Humane Letters (honorary) from the Starr King School for the Ministry of the Unitarian Universalist Association. She completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at The HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
