Dr. Marshall R. Schmidt joined the Justice Studies Department at Montclair State University in the fall of 2019 after finishing his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Marshall also has a B.A. from Ohio State University in English, Criminology, and Sociology and an M.A. from West Virginia University in Sociology.
Dr. Marshall’s research broadly focuses on environmental crimes, white-collar crimes, social psychology, the family, and intersections between these topics. For instance, much of his current work uses social psychological theories to examine how offender and case attributes of occupational and organizational offending affect criminal perceptions, and, in turn, attitudes and opinions on crime. Dr. Marshall is also pursuing work that examines proposed theoretical linkages between different theories of group processes.
Dr. Marshall currently teaches Introduction to Criminology, White-collar Crime, and Environmental Crime.
