2-D differential gel electrophoresis for the proteome analysis of a novel canine model of cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure

Abstract

The proteomic approaches were used to reveal alterations in protein expression between compensated left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and decompensated LVH/heart failure (HF) in large mammalian model. The mechanisms of altered proteins in the transition from severe compensated LVH to the development of the decompensated LVH/HF were described. Conventional 2D gel electrophoresis was performed with the BioRad ProteomeWorks 2D systems. The results show that the employment of state-of-the-art proteomics technology has revealed novel mechanisms of HF.
