An experimental demonstration of a all optical OCDMA code drop unit for use in transparent ring networks was presented. Each ring was found to be connected to two neighbors by two paths. The OCDMA code drop unit removed the correlated code from the ring for dropping at the desired node. Analysis shows that the unit also enhances privacy by not broadcasting codes to all nodes downstream from the intended recipient and increases the scalability of the network by enabling code re-use.
