Abstract
Vascular reactivity encompasses many types of responses, under many conditions, in virtually every tissue, a multitude of experimental techniques exist to assess vascular reactivity. This chapter will focus exclusively upon alterations in vessel caliber, and its greater purpose is threefold. First, the appropriate organizational levels of the vasculature to properly characterize vascular reactivity will be identified. Second, common techniques of vascular reactivity assessment will be discussed and compared. Third, alterations in vascular reactivity and their impacts on hemodynamics will be discussed.
