Abstract

This article presents the use of physical medicine approaches to prevent pulmonary complications and episodes of acute respiratory failure for patients with paralytic or restrictive pulmonary syndromes. Topics discussed include the pathophysiology of restrictive pulmonary syndromes, intervention strategies of physical medicine, respiratory muscle aids, and patient evaluation.
