BAND STRUCTURE CALCULATIONS ON POLYMERIC CHAINS.

Abstract

In this study, quantum mechanical calculations have been carried out to describe the electronic band structures for a number of structurally related polymeric chains in the undoped state. Values of the electronic band gaps E//g and band widths so obtained were then used to predict the possibility for electrical conductivity in these materials and to comment more generally on structure-conductivity relationships.
