title = "Cardiovascular function during transesophageal pacing",
abstract = "The unpredictable consequences of pharmacological treatments of cardiac arrhythmias have led to the investigation of cardiac pacing through catheterization as an alternative. The heart's close proximity to the esophagus encouraged cardiac pacing along the esophageal path. An electronic instrument has been designed to evaluate the efficacy of transesophageal heart pacing. The pacing system has been tested to evaluate the effects of this mode of pacing on cardiovascular function. It is shown that the cardiovascular function was much less affected from esophageal pacing than from conventional intracardiac pacing.",
