Cluster dynamical mean field analysis of the Mott transition

Abstract

The cluster dynamic mean field theory (DMFT) was used for the investigation of the Mott transition. The cellular DMFT (CDMFT) approximation on a 2 × 2 square cluster of the one-band Hubbard model on a square lattice with and without frustration, was performed by solving the CDMFT equations with quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) method. No evidence for a finite temperature Mott transition was found in the absence of frustration. On the other hand, signatures of a finite temperature Mott transition were observed in a frustration model. It was also observed that a clear momentum dependence of the electron lifetime was developed on the Fermi surface as Mott transition was approached.
