Abstract

The recent effort in applying Petri net to simulation of manufacturing systems has resulted in several Petri net based simulators. Most of them have concentrated on the derivation of system performance and did not pay sufficient attention to the simulation of control logic which is the key to development of efficient automated factory-floor systems. Then the effort at NJIT toward build-up for a class of Petri nets tool on PC DOS systems is described. The resulting PC-based software tool has been utilized for simulation of such systems as AT&T Flexible Workstation and NJIT's Flexible Manufacturing System. The future researches are discussed in order to build up a PC-based simulator which can be applied to practical industrial applications.
