Abstract
This letter proposes an energy-efficient wireless multicasting scheme in which the base station (BS) and the mobile users cooperate to reduce the total power consumption in wireless multicasting. Minimizing the power consumption under the scheme is an NP-hard problem. The gradient guided approximation algorithm is thus proposed to achieve low computational complexity. The proposed energy-efficient wireless multicasting scheme consumes less energy than other multicasting schemes without cooperation. The energy savings are validated through well designed simulations.
