Abstract
The study reported by Milnar and Ramaswami1 computed biogenic CO2 emissions from land conversion and carbon sequestration in 11 US cities between 2006 and 2012. The study used the National Land Cover Database2 (NLDC) in conjunction with machine learning classification of highresolution aerial imagery from the National Aerial Imagery Program3 (NAIP). The research was conducted in late 2018 and early 2019 using the 2006 and 2011 editions of the NLCD database. However, the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium recently issued an updated version of the NLCD to be compatible with the most recent release of 2016 land cover data.4 The update of this database by MRLC prompts an update of this paper.
