Abstract

In the past year, some new experimental and theoretical studies have been published which show that many factors influence hydration structure. As the data emerge, it is clear that DNA sequence, size of the grooves, overall conformation and crystal packing are all related to the structural arrangements of water molecules around nucleic acids. Caution in relating these structures to macroscopic properties is still appropriate.
