title = "Model comparisons of oyster recruitment in Delaware Bay",
abstract = "A second order particle trajectory model using surface currents from a three-dimensional model of Delaware Bay was run for a period equivalent to the larval stage of the oyster C. virginica (11.5 days). One case was examined and trajectories were found to be dependent on wind direction. Periods of winds from the north advected particles out of the estuary, and winds from the south retarded movement out of the estuary. An advection-dispersion model was also run for identical start times and positions using the surface current fields as input. Although the paths followed were similar for the two models, the trajectory model was less dispersive and was able to resolve finer scale details and possibly frontal features. The advection dispersion model was better suited for studies of pollution transport or large concentrations of larvae.",
