Abstract

Recently, Laroia and Farvardin have proposed a fixed-rate trellis-based scalar-vector quantizer (TB-SVQ) which realizes both boundary and granular gains. The TB-SVQ is the dual of optimally-shaped trellis-coded constellation for transmission over memoryless channels. In this paper, the authors combine the TB-SVQ idea and a cited precoding idea to develop a quantization scheme for correlated sources.
