Abstract
This paper explores questions surrounding the growing role of computers as creative tools in geodesign, focusing on computer-mediated design techniques as contrasting parallels to drawing. With drawing often described as a critically important creative tool for designers, the increased use of computers for generating form raises questions about the role of creativity in geodesign. Algorithmic or parametric design tools represent an emerging example of ways that computer-mediated design shifts the role of the designer in ways that may require altering our perspective on the role of creativity in geodesign.
