Abstract
Subband adaptive filtering has been used successfully in a number of one-dimensional signal processing applications. This paper represents an extension of subband adaptive filtering to the two-dimensional case. A 4-band decomposition is employed using a bank of separable quadrature mirror filters and decimators. Simulation results based on signal-to-noise ratio SNR comparison show that the proposed structure outperforms the traditional fullband technique by about 5 dB.
